|Connecticut Northeaster 11-8-12....brought my house 12+ inches of snow!!!|
Well as you can see this was a little fun.....we had a Northeaster visit our area. The day before the storm, the weather channels were predicting rain with only 1-2inches of snow for our area. Well on Wednesday 11-7-12, it began snowing here at 11am and didn't stop until the next morning. It snowed more than 12 inches at my house. With winds whipping gusts over 50mph. Needless to say we had a little fun in the snow. School was released early on Wednesday and it was a good thing because roads went downhill fast that day. By Thursday morning we had a driveway to shovel that had 10-14 inches of snow covering it, depending on where the wind piled up the snow. It was a great workout....it took two of us 2 hours to shovel the uphill driveway. We then decided that hiring a snow plow for the next storm was a must do!!! :O) School was closed on Thursday! SNOW DAY!!!

As you can see my pretty pink boots were almost covered in the deep snow! It was a great time for us as our son got to go sledding, build snowman, and have a snow ball fight. The winter fun, what joys!!!
Also for our household it was a long weekend....great thing about still being an active duty Soldier....my husband got to enjoy a 4 day weekend at home, Friday through Monday off for Veteran's day. I will take it. As I can't even begin to count how many Veteran's Day he has been gone for! It was SO great to have him home this year. Last year at this time, my boys and I were at a Tennessee Titan's game while my husband who was in Afghanistan got a chance to send a shout out to us via video, that the Titans played on a huge jumbotron during halftime of the game. It was a great thing for the Titans to do for military families!!! BUT nothing compares to having him home and spending time together this year!!!

My boys definitely enjoyed our trip there!
As we spend time together as a family, we always LOVE to cook. So this weekend we tried our hand at baking a Turkey on our Big Green Egg....not sure how it would turn out and we didn't really want to experiment next week on Thanksgiving as we wanted that to be as good as we normally make it in the oven, but my husband has been really wanting to try out cooking it on the Egg! So we did. And let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Check this out....
Isn't he beautiful!!! We couldn't believe how juicy and yummy he turned out. Our Tom the Turkey was so pretty and golden brown, I think we decided to actually forego the family favorite of cooking our turkey in a brown paper bag next week and do our next Tom the Turkey on the Big Green Egg too!!!
It just doesn't get much prettier and golden brown than that. Be looking later this week for the recipe on how we cooked him on the Big Green Egg!!!
I also have been a little busy with a few special projects....I have a few things in the works that I hope to be able to share with you guys later this week or in the coming weeks. Here are a few sneak peeks of a few projects to come this week....
