This one has just the right cheese blends to compliment the sausage perfectly. One item we did add to this is the Loose Lip Larry's Honey Mustard sauce....it was a flavor that works with the sausage. But I do believe you could substitute a brown mustard, or hot sauce and it would work just fine. It's such a small amount, but it does add a nice flavor to the Mac N Cheese. Ingredients:
- 16 oz Shell Pasta
- Pinch of Kosher Salt
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 pinch of onion powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 bayleaf
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp Loose Lip Larry Sweet Georgia Honey Mustard
- 1/2 cup Asiago Cheese
- 1 cup Vermont White American Cheese
- 1 cup Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese
- 1/2 cup Pecorino Romano Cheese
- 1 cup Vermont Maple Syrup Sausage (Or your favorite sausage)
Directions:
1. Bring 4 quarts of water with a pinch of Kosher salt to a boil. Add pasta and boil until al dente.
3. Melt 4tbsp of butter in a medium saucepan.
5. Add liquid (milk, cream, & vegetable broth) and continue to whisk over a low-medium heat until thickens.
6. Add nutmeg, bayleaf, salt and LLL Sweet GA Honey Mustard....simmer over low heat, whisking for 8 minutes.
9. Add pasta back into saucepan and stir gently together with a rubber spatula. If this is too thick add a small amount of water saved from boiling noodles....until correct consistency.
10. Add sausage and stir.
11. Serve and enjoy!!!
